The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) have joined forces to enhance Malaysia’s tourism industry through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic collaboration is set to drive significant growth within the travel trade industry, creating substantial business opportunities for members of both associations while contributing to the overall development of Malaysia’s tourism sector.

A Strategic Partnership for Growth

The MoU outlines several key areas of collaboration between MATTA and MAH, focusing on joint initiatives that will benefit the travel trade industry in Malaysia. Among these initiatives are major projects such as the MATTA Fair, which is one of the country’s largest tourism expos, as well as talent development programs aimed at nurturing the next generation of tourism professionals. Additionally, the partnership will support promotional roadshows in alignment with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, aiming to attract both local and international tourists.

MATTA and MAH will also work closely to share information and initiatives related to sustainable tourism, ensuring that the industry evolves in an environmentally friendly and socially responsible manner. This collaboration will facilitate member meetings, encourage the exchange of ideas, and support each other in both national and international tourism events.

Leaders Express Optimism

MATTA President Nigel Wong expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in driving the travel trade industry forward. “This collaboration with MAH marks a significant step forward in our efforts to further enhance the Malaysian tourism industry. By working together, we can leverage our collective strengths to create more opportunities and promote sustainable tourism practices,” Wong stated.

Datin Christina Toh, President of MAH, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the potential impact of this partnership on the tourism industry. “We are excited to embark on this partnership with MATTA, which represents a significant opportunity to elevate the Malaysian tourism industry. By aligning our efforts, we can enhance the experiences we offer to both local and international travelers and contribute to the success of initiatives like Visit Malaysia 2026. Together, we are committed to driving innovation, sustainability, and growth in the tourism sector,” Toh noted.

A Unified Effort to Boost Malaysia’s Tourism Industry

The collaboration between MATTA and MAH signifies a unified effort to position Malaysia as a premier travel destination, benefiting both local and international tourists. This partnership is expected to set new benchmarks for excellence in the travel trade industry, driving growth and innovation while ensuring that Malaysia remains competitive on the global tourism stage.

Through their combined efforts, MATTA and MAH are poised to transform Malaysia’s tourism industry, creating a more dynamic and sustainable travel trade sector that will contribute significantly to the nation’s economic growth and international reputation.
